Glowing Skin

Why do I need a Facial?

Sure, you can wash your own face. You can exfoliate your own face. Maybe you even take it a step further and apply a mask sometimes at home. If you are doing all of these things and ask yourself, "Why would I pay someone to wash my face?" keep reading - we'll tell you exactly why.

Licensed Estheticians

You didn't go to school to learn how to cleanse your face. You didn't go to school to learn how to brush your teeth either but you still see your dentist for your regular cleanings (I hope!). Think of getting a facial just as you think of seeing your dentist. Your esthetician at Ocean Spa has spent a minimum of 600 hours at an accredited school learning how to cleanse, care for, and maintain healthy skin. Our licensed estheticians are trained in anatomy of the skin, chemistry as it pertains to esthetics, skin disorders and diseases, nutrition of the skin, infection control and functions of the skin. Getting regular facials are more than just "washing your face".

Professional Grade Products and Devices

Licensed Estheticians have access to products, ingredients and devices that you probably don't. And even if you are able to find stronger acids, esthetic devices and professional products online - you are not trained to use them. Your face is not something you want to experiment with at home. Would you extract a tooth at home just because you found the tools online to do it? Well stop doing peels and extractions on your own skin! You can leave your skin irritated, infected or worse - permanently scarred.

Facial Massage, Lymphatic Drainage

Part of an esthetician's education involves facial massage and lymphatic drainage. Removing toxins from the face reduces puffiness, improves the appearance of under eye dark circles, improves circulation and reduces breakouts. Facial massage may seem like it's included because it feels good and helps you relax but there is more to it than that. There is a purpose behind each relaxing glide of their skilled fingers across your face, chest and décolleté. Facial massage is an important part of maintaining the health of your skin and giving you that GLOW.

What is that?

We see a lot of skin. All day. Every day. You see a random breakout and either try to pop it or put something on it that worked for your sister/mother/neighbor. Stop that. Our licensed estheticians can usually pinpoint exactly what type of breakout or skin irritation you have by it's location on your face and asking a few simple questions. Because of their extensive knowledge on skin conditions, your esthetician will educate you and be able to help you treat and prevent future breakout and irritations with product ingredients that they understand and tips for better skin.

What You Can Expect

At Ocean Spa we believe in a healthy, beautiful, smart approach to all things related to your care when you are with us. Your licensed esthetician will go over any skin concerns or conditions you are currently experiencing. Together, you will decide which facial is best for you and why. You will relax on an adjustable warm table while your esthetician takes care of your skin. Cleansing, steaming, exfoliating, gently extracting (if necessary), massaging and applying serums, masks and moisturizer that are best for you. Many of our clients are so relaxed, they drift off to sleep. If you feel like really treating yourself - and you should! - go ahead and let our staff know that you'd like to add on a scalp massage or a peppermint foot treatment for some added relaxation. When your facial is complete, your esthetician will discuss with you any questions you may have, or what your home care should consist of. Before going home, we will invite you to sit for a few minutes with a warm neck wrap and enjoy a bottle of water to keep you hydrated.

At Ocean Spa, you can expect all things Healthy, Beautiful, and Smart.
